Take more exercise, eat better, read books to make you grow emotionally and do another 100 things and you’ll have overcome your low self -esteem. That’s what some books would have you believe.
They ask you to believe you will feel great and never need to pick up the book again if you do those 100 things . And yet we know the self-help book industry isn’t so big because people buy just one book. I have multiple books on time-management, presentation skills and other areas of fun and fear. Am I so special that a standard book doesn’t work for me? Did the first book in each area not do it’s job?
My sense is there are self-esteem issues that books don’t resolve and that not everyone does those 100 tasks and that the people who do many fewer tasks may have felt over-whelmed at the challenge and baulked at it.
Let’s discover what actually happens when you put an “overcoming self esteem” book down and return to the big bad world. How do you want to feel? How can that happen? Let’s discover all about that.
